I am one of those people who have “always drawn” and I have continued my art journey with classes
when and where I could and lots of simple pencil practice capturing the little things around me.
I have always been fascinated by the possibilities to be found at the tip of a simple pencil. The sensitivity
of a beautifully rendered subject never fails to move me. My preferred medium is colored pencil, although
I have recently begun to study pastel as a counterbalance to the tightness of my pencil work.
My art is representational and typically seeks to capture a close-up and fleeting moment of light and
shadow as these elements play over the common objects of every day life.
My art seeks to highlight the small, glowing jewels to be glimpsed in a moment of time and to inspire
others to look closely at the subtle beauty hiding in corners of their own surroundings.
A very happy and excited PS on the Arkell juried show. Silk Road Stroll was awarded the Juror's Choice Award for 2016. Check out previous post for this tribute to all things Asian-theme piece.
