Art de Cure Gallery

Two favorite oldies will be on display at the Art de Cure Gallery. Art de Cure is a unique concept which brings art to an audience not likely to explore art galleries. Galleries are housed in medical practices and the work of regional artists is on display. The host practice chooses the charity that will benefit and Art de Cure curates the shows. Here is the link for further information http://artdecure.org/ Proud to participate. The cause for this current show will be the American Diabetes Association and works will be on display from December 9, 2011 - April 6, 2012. My floral piece is titled "Tracery" and the postcard tribute is titled "A Moment for Mucha".

Back to Arkell!

Two new pieces were juried into the annual Arkell Museum at Canajoharie Library Juried Show. These pieces were done mainly in colored pencil but with pastel pencil accents for the light values - something I am experimenting with these days. Here is a link to explore this wonderful museum. http://arkellmuseum.org/events.html This show will be on display during regular library hours from December 2, 2011 to January 2, 2012. Check it out if you can.

Juried Show in beautiful Lake Placid

I have two pieces in the Lake Placid Center for the Arts 2011 Adirondack Juried Show. "Whistlestop" and "Sunrise Diner" are two oldie, but favorite pieces. Sunrise Diner is in Jim Thorpe, PA, (in case you are wondering) and the whistlestop bottle lives on the window sill in my dining room with other light-catching friends who are constantly being rearranged and added to as my fancy dictates. Check out this show at http://www.lakeplacidarts.org/11-Adk-Juried-Show-Exhibited-Works.html

Solo Show!! (and good, old Hagaman Fall Show)

My show at the Arkell Museum Community Gallery will open on October 7, 2011 and run until November 25th. I have two new larger works (for me) and will feature mainly still life subjects. I do like horses, junkyard cars and other subjects, but just can't seem to get away from my first love. Here's a link for the Arkell. http://www.clag.org/communitygalleries.html

This weekend I will participate in the annual Hagaman, NY Fall Art Show. A very nice little show and with the added plus that the juror usually is persuaded to dictate a personalized card of critique comments for each artists to take home. I will hang some of my new pieces here and then off they go to the Arkell Community Gallery for my show!

Cooperstown National

I just found out that "A Little Night Music" was accepted by jury for the annual Cooperstown National Art Association 2011 show. This is a larger piece for me with an image size of 14"x11". That is quite a bit of work with a pencil! This is my own kitchen stove as it appears at night and I think it has alot of mystery. The "witching hour" when things take on a life of their own as humans sleep.

Upcoming Events

So pleased that my application for a solo exhibition in one of the community galleries at the Canajoharie Library. My work will be displayed in the Southeast Gallery from October 7 through November 25, 2011. Canajoharie Library and Arkell Museum are located at 2 Erie Boulevard, Canajoharie, NY 13317. The library and museum are open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday-Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm.

This piece, "Portals" has been accepted for the Cooperstown Art Association Regional Juried Art Show, "Essential Art". The theme for "Portals" was the way that books provide a doorway into other times and places. A magical moment in my home with the sunlight touching just a few bookcovers in small library of old books. The Cooperstown Regional Show will run from May 6 to June 3 and is located at 22 Main Street, Cooperstown, NY 13326, in the Village Library building across the street from the Baseball Hall of Fame. Hours are Daily 11 am to 4 pm, Sunday 1 pm to 4 pm and closed on Tuesdays.

A Few of My Favorite Things
Fall went by fast, but an annual favorite show is the Hagaman Annual Autumn Art Show. Each artist has a 4' x 8' space and so a nice grouping of work can be arranged. Here is a picture of my 2010 entries. You will notice another large (for me) piece I finished just in time. The title is "Northern Lights". A moment of reflected light and color I happened upon in my kitchen. You can see the same area in a larger view in my piece below titled "A Little Night Music".
I also participated in the Cooperstown Art Association's Members' Christmas Artwork Sale as well as the NCAC Christmas Sale.
