Buck Moon Arts Festival - Year One

July 12th & 13th are the dates for the first annual Buck Moon Arts Festival held rain or shine at the campus of the Fulton-Montgomery Community College, 2805 State Highway 67 in Johnstown, NY.

The festival will showcase diverse, family-friendly visual and performance art from across NYS and beyond with vendors, workshops, demonstrations, and multi-venue live music and dance performances.  An array of vendors will cover the campus with tented booths on Saturday and Sunday, displaying juried art and crafts available for sale. Food artisans will offer tastings of their regionally grown specialties; workshops will be held; and numerous food vendors will delight the palate all weekend long.

The show will also feature a juried art show in the FM Perrella Fine Arts Gallery, which will run through Friday, September 12.  My entries were "Tea for Two", and Whistlestop".  Hope you enjoy viewing them here.  Take in this great event if you can!

Cooperstown National!

I submitted several pieces for consideration to the 79th Annual National Juried Art Exhibition at Cooperstown and my oldie "It's Not Kansas" was juried into the show.  As you can see, it's an Oz/old stuff theme.  A very interesting, challenging and fun bit of drawing.

This is always a very nice event and I am always proud and happy to make the cut.  This exhibition is held in the very elegant Cooperstown Library Galleries, located at 22 Main Street, Cooperstown, NY 13326 and runs from July 11-August 15.  The hours are daily 11-4 and Sundays 1-4.

New Show, a Prize and Some Oldies Too

"Guard Dog" was accepted for display at the 2014 Cooperstown Art Association's Regional Juried Show - "Essential Arts".  These bottles have appeared in a number of my pieces and I never get tired of the way light plays with the ever-changing arrangements I make on my window sill.

The show runs through the month of May
and is located in the elegant, old library at 22 Main Street, Cooperstown, NY  13326.  The hours are daily 11-4, Sundays 1-4 with closed on Tuesdays.  Here is a link for more information.  http://www.cooperstownart.com/

This is the first year I have been involved with the Frederic Remington Art Museum Juried Members Show.  I submitted "A Little Night Music" (my spooky night stove) and "Sneak Peek" (also rather spooky, I guess).  "A Little Night Music" received an honorable mention!

This art museum is located at 303 Washington Street, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.  The show runs from May 17 through September 28 so plenty of time to see it if you are traveling through the beautiful Adirondacks.  Go to  http://fredericremington.org/ to check it out!

"Razzle Dazzle", a close-up view of some vintage jewelry favorites, is on display at View - The 63rd Annual Central Adirondack Regional Art Show.  The show runs from May 3 through June 22 and is located at 3273 State Highway 28 in Old Forge, NY 13420.  For more information, http://viewarts.org/

Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts

Last weekend I attended the opening of the annual juried show at the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts, located at 401 Canal Place in Little Falls.  Here is a link to check out their many events.  http://www.mohawkvalleyarts.org/   The juried show runs from August 24 through September 21 with the gallery open Tuesday through Saturday from 12-4 pm.  My entries were two new pieces and so I was very pleased that they made the cut.  "Tea for Two" is a quirky drawing of my daughter pouring tea for me in a wonderful Irish Pub in Long Beach California.  Whenever I visit, we go to the weekly Irish music jam session.  Wonderful musicians sit casually around the table bursting into songs as each one gets an inspiration and the others jump in as they catch the feel.  A dimly lit interior of lovely old wood and furnishings with light streaming in from the open doors in the front.  "Shazam!" is the title of the crystal doorknob piece.  I loved the way the colorful shadow shot across the door as the light poured in from the window.  A strong, abstract shape that really grabbed me.  I actually worked some more on the values after these photos, but you can get an idea.

Old Forge Again

One of my pieces was recently juried into the Masters' Division of the Central Adirondack Art Show at Old Forge, NY this year.  The new facility is just beautiful and I am always proud to have my work on display in their show.  Here is the Masters' Division piece.  I named this one "Farm Days".  I liked the quiet nostalgia of these homey farm mementos from a peaceful part of my past.  Hope you like it!
