Catching up

This spring and summer, my artwork has traveled to a number of familiar places.  Here are some of them.  "Bones in the Woods" was accepted at the Adirondack Artists Guild juried show in Saranac Lake, New York.  This piece was previously created for a themed show - "Back to Nature".

 

 

Cooperstown Art Association's Regional Juried Show accepted "The Beet Goes On".  This piece was originally created for a themed show called "Full Circle" and shows the circle from seed to finished food for the table.

 

 



 

 A new piece, "A Night at the Opera", was accepted for "View" Juried Show in Old Forge, New York.  This one shows a froggy couple having a night of culture out on the town.  It was fun to do and I especially liked the idea of showing the foreground figures from the back and their faces reflected in the background mirror.

 

  

Don't have a photo, but a drawing of the Erie Canal ruins at Schoharie Crossing, "Portals to the Past", received an honorable mention at the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts juried exhibition. 

 

October brought the annual Hagaman Fall Art Show.  My new black and white drawing, Baby Makes Three", received a first place ribbon in the Drawing category.  I have many interesting antique and collectable objects around my house and these two birds suggested a novel idea for a composition.  I felt that limiting myself to black and white would be an interesting project also.

 

"Silk Road Stroll" was accepted at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts juried show.  This piece took a VERY long time to complete and I am very proud of it and happy to see it displayed. 

 

 

A new pastel, "Butterfly Dreams", was accepted for the Paul Nigra Center for the Arts Fall Art Show, "The Art of Disguise", and was chosen as the image used for advertising the show online and on postcards.  This image was from an old photo of my granddaughter, Katey, all dolled up with a fanciful face-painting job.  The current show will run until January 10 at the Paul Nigra Center, 2736 NY Rte 30, Gloversville, New York.

 

 

Most recently, my froggy drawing, (see above) back from Old Forge, was selected for the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library juried show.  The museum/library is located at 2 Erie Boulevard, Canajoharie, New York.  The opening will be December 1 from 5-7 pm.  The show opened for viewing on November 3rd and will be on display until January 3, 2018.  My piece is in the downstairs gallery.  The other two  gallery areas are located in the library section of the building.

Founder's Day Surprise

I was recently surprised and VERY honored to learn that my drawing "Garden at Old Fort Johnson", had been purchased from Micropolis Gallery in Gloversville, NY to be given as the President's Award at the March 17, 2017 Founder's Day Assembly at Fulton Montgomery Community College.  This year's recipient of the President's Award was Diana Putnam, Dean of Academic Affairs.  Here is a photo of Dean Putman receiving my Drawing from FM President, Dustin Swanger and a close up of the drawing! 

 

My Solo Show is Here!

Saturday, March 11, will be the opening of my solo show at the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts!  The gallery is located at 401 Canal Place in beautiful Little Falls, New York.  The opening runs from 2-4 pm and the show will be up through April 8th with gallery hours of Wednesday-Saturday from noon to 4 pm.

I will have 26 pieces on display, including 3 new drawings shown for the first time.  This solo show was given as an award in the MVCA 2016 juried show, "Full Circle", for my entry "The Beet Goes On".  Here I am as proud recipient!
