Arkell Juried Show

The Arkell Museum, Canajoharie Library Annual Juried Art Show will be on view from November 4, 2016 through January 4, 2017.  The Museum is located at 2 Erie Boulevard in Canajoharie, New York with the opening on Friday, December 2, from 5-7 pm.

"Silk Road Stroll" and "Phantoms" were both selected for this year's exhibition!

Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts

The new Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts recently opened its juried fall show.  The theme was "Transitions" and my decaying auto piece, "Bones in the Woods" was juried in and awarded 2nd prize!  I felt that the subject really fit the theme as the manmade reverted to nature as part of the endless cycle.

Lake Placid 2016

My whimsy piece, "Playing Hookey", was accepted for the Lake Place Center for the Arts 2016 juried show.  I really like this piece and enjoyed composing and working on it.  A dignified, stately and solemn rooster teacher with his row of egglet pupils - all except one, hiding under the bridge having a day of hookey!

MVCA Solo Show in 2017

A new piece, "The Beet Goes On", was accepted in the 2016 Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts 2016 juried art show and was chosen for the award of a March 2017 solo show.  The theme of the juried show was "Full Circle" and I had decided to compose a still life of the life cycle of beets - from seed packet to harvested vegetable to canned product on the store shelf.  I chose Beets for the bright color and contrast with foliage and packaging.  It was challenging because I usually work with inanimate objects.
